HELLO.

I’m Cecilia Heikkilä.
I’m a Swedish based illustrator often working with children’s books. Sometimes I write them too.

You will often find me in my studio hanging out with my dog Mochi, or traveling, always glued to a cup of coffee (and my corgi). I love animals, pens and paper and the smell of new books. I believe humans and animals should be treated equally, and that trees are better as a forest and a home to flora and fauna than exploited for revenue. I’ll stop before I sound like the lyrics of a Savage Garden song, but needless to say; animals as well as nature are often prominent themes in my work.

Some of my inspirations are; Tove Jansson, Hayao Miyazaki, Richard Scarry, Pauline Baynes, Miroslav Šašek, E. H. Shepard, and my dog Mochi. When it comes to storytelling, I always enjoy a well written video game, and for a while I worked with reviewing them too (did someone mention my favourite developer Bioware?).

I love to work with both smaller and larger clients. Some of them are: Bonnier Carlsen, Rabén & Sjögren, Fjällräven, Astrid Lindgren AB, Moomin Characters, Spotify, Berghs förlag, Leopard Förlag, IKEA, Havsmiljöinstitutet, Djurens Rätt, Nikita clothing, Teater 23 Malmö and Skissernas museum in Lund.

It's now a little over a month since she had her emergency surgery due to a herniate

Whoa this march was one grey sleep deprived soup and I’m still trying to catch up on everything. But I made some things I liked, commission for Naturum Vindelfjällen and book work for example.
